Preserved Fish after installation

Preserved Fish

Tricia Flanagan, Geoff Whitnall and Ayumi Matsuzaka

Site: Lee Wharf boardwalk adjacent to Maritime Museum

This project is an interactive and performative installation that recalls personal and the everyday recollections of the harbour. “One listens to the voices of fisherman – it’s like putting your ear to the ground to listen to the heartbeat of the city.”

The team will track stories from the fishing community and present them back in an installation within a shipping container using projection, object, display and performance. The two artists involved have travelled to various harbours around the world archiving recipes, conversations and traces of their encounters. These will all be interpreted within the context and alongside stories of Newcastle Harbour. The installation has the support of the nearby maritime museum.
