wasted!

Cida de Aragon, Ian Moore, Richard Vella, Anthea Scott-Mitchell and Nathan Scott

Site: Newcastle Region Art gallery

This installation calls to attention the global problem of waste production. Video projections reflect on a trash-pop disposable culture with images of a real waste metal cube manipulated in strong acid colours. At the same time, a cube of compressed recycled metal is placed alongside the projections – the real and the image side by side.

The sound component investigates the consumption of sounds and its related technology, from the turntable to the iPod, alluding to the recycling of identity, memory and loss.
